Accounting Systems Consulting

Perform Needs Analysis - The first step is to determine what you really need. Although this may seem obvious, it is often neglected in the mad rush to get a new computer system. For example, one client decided they needed a new computer, modem, printer and software to allow them to print job tickets at their remote plant. All of the processing would still be done at the main office. Since they only printed 10-15 job tickets each day, what they REALLY needed was to learn how to print the job tickets directly to the fax/modem they already had, sending them directly to the plant. Problem solved with no additional expenses.

Hardware and System Selection - We don't sell hardware. But we will prepare a system configuration and help you find a hardware vendor who can provide quality hardware within your budget.

Software Selection - Based on the outcome of the Needs Analysis, we look for software that provides solutions. While we represent several accounting software products, they may not meet your needs. If we can't find "off the shelf" software, we'll develop a custom system for you.

Custom Programming

Let's face it - your company is unique. You probably have your own custom invoices, prepare reports or process information a little bit differently than other companies - even those in your industry. Most packaged accounting software will take care of 90% of your needs. Rather than re-invent the wheel, we can customize the software to meet the remaining 10% of your company's industry-specific requirements.

Training

After the software has been installed and configured, we will show your staff how to use the new system - whether they've never even turned on a computer before or are very computer literate and just need to know the intricacies of the new system. Training is available from Bal-Tech one-on-one or classroom style at your company. Training is also available from Open Systems via tele-training (conference call) and classroom style at their Minneapolis, MN offices.

On-Going Support

Once the initial training is finished, our involvement with your company does not end. We provide on-going support via on-site visits, phone calls and modem sessions when needed. Our extended hours give you access to the answers to your questions when you need them, including evenings and weekends.

One year's software maintenance is part of every new software sale. This entitles you to all revisions, upgrades and patches published by Open Systems at no additional cost. After the first year, you may elect whether to continue with the program.

At Bal-Tech, we won't force you to sign up for a mandatory support agreement with our company. We'll bill you when the work is performed. We don't charge for "bug" fixes or travel time (for clients in the greater Chicagoland area). AND - we have not raised our our rates or our software prices in anticipation of Y2K.
