Prime Directive:

IPMS/Techmages is a club by and for imaginitive scale model enthusiasts. Our primary goals are:

• to promote fellowship and the exchange of knowledge and ideas amongst modelers with diverse interests;
• to promote the enjoyment of the hobby as both an enjoyable pastime and a means of self-expression, and;
• to further the growth of imaginitive modeling in general and science fiction modeling in particular, amongst our peers in the hobby and the general public.

Membership:

Our members are drawn from the greater Chicgoland area, but any and all visitors are welcome. Membership in the national IPMS organization is NOT a requirement for membership in IPMS/Techmages (it is, however, a requirement for holding an officer position in the club, due to IPMS/USA regulations).

To become a member in good standing, a person must:

• have an interest in imaginative scale modeling
• pay any dues as may be assessed to defray club expenses.

Meetings:

Meetings will be held at a site agreed upon by the majority of members in good standing on the second Saturday of every month, unless other events or circumstances dictate (ie, model conventions and shows that fall on or about the time/day of a regularly scheduled meeting).

Meetings will generally last 1 to 1½ hours, and consist of:

• informal sharing of knowledge, techniques, news, etc.
• show and tell with members' projects
• short (10-20 minute) presentations on modeling topics, as arranged by the club Cruise Director

Events:

The club may, from time to time, organize activities/events for members to participate in. Such events may include field trips to sites or activities of interest to members, model contests, outreach activities and the like. Events and activities will be coordinmated by the club Cruise Director, and approved by vote of the members in good standing.

Officers:

Club business will be taken care of by the IPMS/Techmages Central Committee. This organization will consist of four officers, approved by majority vote of the members in good standing during the last meeting of the year. Term of office shall be two years, unless special circumstances dictate.

Chairman of the Central Committee (President)

• represent the club to outside organzations
• coordinate activities of other officers
• arbitrate all disputes

Cruise Director (Vice President)

• set schedule for meetings and events
• coordinate and arrange all meeting presentations, schedule speakers, and ensure necessary materials are available to conduct such presentations
• arrange and coordinate field trips and other events

• send out email notification of meetings, events and other notices as may be useful to the entire club membership
• act as club contact with the IPMS Region 5 chapter coordinator
• act as secretary during Central Committee and regular club meetings
• oversee the club website and newsletter
• act as marketing manager to promote the club

BuckandaQuartermaster (Treasurer)

• collect any dues or other fees that may be assessed of members, from events, etc.
• maintain the club checking account
• disburse funds as necessary to meet club expenses
• maintain a current and complete roster of members in good standing

Cabin Boy. While primarily a ceremonial position, the Cabin Boy will act as tie-breaker as necessary, and carry out any other duties as may be directed, from time to time, by the Central Committee.

Each officer may appoint as many assistants as is necessary to carry out his or her duties. However, these assistants do not have officer status. Each officer will also maintain a written "turn over" guide, outlining the duties and current club business of each position, to ensure continuity between succeeding office holders.
